First set of golf clubs?

Posted by admin

I just recently deciding that golf would be my new thing this summer. Thing as in thing to keep me occupied while I'm boring my brains out at home.

How do I choose my first set? I don't even know what length they should be because I don't know at what angle you are supposed to hold clubs. I will probably get a teacher/instructor but I shouldn't I buy clubs before I pay for lessons?

Also, how much should I spend? I will probably get used ones off ebay because I don't even know if I'm gonna like golfing. But from everything I've read people say I should never buy clubs without swinging them and trying them out. Which is a problem because even if I could test them out I wouldn't know what to look for.

So when looking on ebay what should I look for and how much should I spend? Lets put it like this so there's no confusion. How much should I spend, if it were new clubs.

you dont want to start out on a super nice set. you should look to spend about 300 to 500 for a decent set. on ebay you can get a used set for less. to find your size you would need to go to a sporting goods store, golf store, or even golf range and have someone assist you. to select a brand you would just have to swing and compare at a store. calloways are good, ping clubs are good, taylor mades, titleist, cobras.

go to a golf store like place… like a golf and ski warehouse… or a sporting goods store… ask some one to help youa nd they will really help with sizing and what they think a begginer should use
i wouldn't buy new clubs until you are certain that you love golf…

all you really need is a 7 iron to begin with go to goodwill and buy 1 or 2 clubs and then go take lessons at a driving range

  5. tom Said,

buy the best set you can afford, you will not be sorry. those top name clubs are that way for a reason. ping makes some good clubs that are very forgiving. lol

You should go to a local golf store near you and ask someone to help you out about choosing first time clubs. there you should be able to test all kinds of different irons from nike, callaway, ping, titleist, and taylormade. I would reccomend taylormade racs and taylormade clubs. racs are now around 400 or 500 but if you want to there like 100 or 150 cheaper in the u.s.
