I am looking at possibly buying a used Taylor Made 360 Ti Driver. The guy says it’s shaft is “S-90 Stiff ” and it is a graphite shaft. I know the levels of stiffness as far as “ladies”, “senior”, “regular”, “stiff” and “extra stiff”. But what does the s-90 mean? is this at the higher or lower end of stiffness? or does this have to do with something totally different?
Also side note. Do you think $35 for this club is a good deal? I get out maybe a handful of times during the summer months.

  1. Rick W Said,

I tried doing a little research to backup my thought but I can’t find anything. I want to say that the 90 is the ideal swing speed for the shaft as in 90 mph. Since when you talk about regular shafts, that number tends to go down, that is the only thing that makes sense to me. I can’t see it being weight, although if an expert told me that it was, I guess I’d believe it.
And 35 bucks is probably a good deal. I’ve had my driver for 10 years, I made it from components out of a golfsmith catalog and I still can hit it 300. So the fact that it’s not brand new means nothing. Especially if you only get a chance to play a few times a year.

I don’t know the answer to which club is stiffer, but I like the sound of your question……and stiff shafts.

  3. Spartan Golfer Said,

It is just a normal stiff shaft. The “90″ probably means that it weighs 90 grams. And for a begginer/someone who doesn’t play alot, that should be a great driver.

The stiffness in clubs are graded on a scale..I’m not positive, but I think s-90 is the highest for stiff shafted clubs, while s-80 is the lowest grade for stiff shafted clubs. As far as price..look it up on ebay, and that will give you an idea of how much it is worth. I personally just bought a Taylor Made Bubble Burner s-90 for $15 on ebay last week.
