I think the glove makers convince the public they are “needed”, while I think it’s another “golf tradition” at work. Pros like to talk about”feel”. Try swinging without a glove and really get “the feel”.

  1. Robert D Said,

I wear gloves because my grip causes blisters on my hands. The gloves stop this.

  2. A.REKKIN Said,

Only time I wear a glove is when it’s hot and my hands are sweating. Definitely helps keep the club from twisting in my hands.
Other than that, gloves aren’t needed. Just a personal preference.

  3. brenda st Said,

blisters are a sign of troubles in your golf swing
the pros answer is because they don’t want to get used to one when they do need one like on humid days or wet ones

  4. Mizer Said,

The humidity in the summer where I live gets pretty brutal. Today the humidity is 79% and the high temperature for the day is supposed to be over 90 degrees.
When the temperature gets like that, I have to use a glove because my hands get so sweaty.

  5. rogue Said,

There are two reasons for using a golf glove 1) to lessen pressure on the grip 2) dampness control

  6. Jason G Said,

For those who have hyperhydrosis, a glove is needed. Hyperhydrosis is a sweat disorder causing a person to have sweaty hands. The only time I don’t wear a glove is when I putt.

  7. ryan h Said,

a faster swing speed will tear the hell out of your hands.
Trust me, if I don’t wear a glove I will have 3 distinct blisters.

  8. Nic W Said,

I’ve never heard of blisters meaning a flaw in your swing…
I have blisters (Now callus’) on my left hand even through my glove. It’s pretty common and even worsened by not wearing a glove IMHO.
It’s just the friction between your hand and the grip, nothing more. It has little to do with your grip pressure. As a matter of fact, the friction probably increases as your grip pressure lightens.

  9. Adam S Said,

I use gloves on both hands because I get blisters/calluses. Not all people have the same problems.

  10. Brian D Said,

Try hanging on to the club on a hot and humid day with sweaty palms… ahh, that’s what the gloves are for…
