  1. cheapest manchester airport parking Said,

It means that the clubface will be aiming right (if you’re a righty) at impact, causing the ball to slice or fade. You can fix it by rotating your grip over the slightest bit, or trying to hit “down” on the ball in your downswing

  2. googie Said,

Keeping the club face open means that the face is pointing away from you at the point of impact which will usually produce a slice. If the club face is square at impact, the shot will usually be straight.. If the club face is closed(toe of the club ahead of the hosel of the club) the ball will hook. You learn to control the club face by understanding what is going on during your swing. Your grip of the club, the position of the hands on the takeaway, the position of the hands and arms at the top of the backswing , the body turn to accomodate all this movement and then the start of the downswing, the firm leading side and the whip of the wrists through the impact point all have a bearing on the open, neutral or closed club face.

If your club face is open, then your club face is pointed more away from you. You will most likely slice the ball if it is open. If your club face is closed, then it is pointed more towards you. You will most likely hook the ball. Don’t get on your front foot too soon or stay on your back foot too long. Your weight should be a little more on your back foot in your back swing, and your weight should transfer your front foot when you are finishing your swing.

somebody asked a similar question not too long ago. One of the best answers I ever saw was submitted using slashes on the keyboard. I’ll try to repeat it here with respect to the original author whos name I’ve forgotten:
Open clubface (target line to the left here. The zero represents the ball and the slash the clubface) o/
Closed clubface (same target line to the left) o
    Straight clubface o|
Controlling the clubface is a matter of practice practice and more practice. I suggest you take a couple of lessons.

If you’re right handed, the clubface points to the left if it is closed. It points to the right if it is open. A closed clubface causes a hook. Controlling the clubface, as you put it, starts with your grip. A good grip has the hands working together as one, which is why you should use an interlocking or overlapping grip.

if you keep the club face closed at impact then the ball will draw.. if it is open, it will fade.. if it is square, the ball will go straight..
to learn how to control the clubface, do a couple of practice swings and check your left hand at impact, this is the natural way you swing the club.. if at impact, the back of your left hand is pointing towards the target, grip the club weak when you setup.. if at impact, you see all your knuckles on your left hand, then grip the club strong when you setup..

It means you are not releasing the club, and you will probably hit the shot to the right. Sometimes you want to keep it open like on a lob out of heavy rough, but you need to aim left of the target because the ball will go to the right. It is usually not a desirable thing to do.
