That depends on you. I would go to Golf supply store and try out some drivers and see what fit for you and your swing. I like Call away Big Bertha Fusion FT-3 Driver. It’s $299. @ ***** Sporting Goods and is very forgiving and feels good, but that is me and you may have different preferences.

  1. Kevin P Said,

Dick’s Sporting Goods has the TaylorMade R7 Draw & Callaway X460 for $199.99 brand new. Both are good drivers from the 2006 models.
Our local store has an indoor driving range with a launch monitor so they can custom fit your for the club should you decide to buy it.

  2. Mizer Said,

Don’t be tempted to buy new. Look for a demo club and one that is the right length. Go to a pro shop and have them fit you for a club and then look for second hand drivers that are the best fit. I ended up with a second hand R-7 that cost me less than $200 and I have never hit the ball better.

Callaway Great Big Bertha Circa 1997.
    About 30 bucks on ebay.
    Can’t beat that!

  4. industrial safety Said,

A second hand cobra driver is the answer here, I had one for years and it improved my game humungously, easy to hit and well worth the money.

  5. Mr Glennedy Said,

You might try an oversize driver like these which are more forgiving

Your best bet is to look for a custom clubmaker in your area and have them build something that fits you. You can get an excellent custom driver for less than $200. The important thing is to get enough loft for your skill level, and to get a shaft that is short enough and has the right flex.
Most off-the-shelf drivers these days have a shaft that is too long. People think that a long shaft will result in more distance, but studies show that a longer shaft only increases the best-case distance by about 4 yards, while decreasing accuracy and decreasing the average distance (due to the difficulty of hitting the center of the club face). 43″ is a good length, but many off-the-shelf drivers are built to 45″.
    I am a good player (6 handicap), and I use a 43.5″ driver that cost me $120.

Taylormade 07 burner, as forgiving as it gets
