For Steel Shafts:
Get a high gage or fine gage of steel wool, (which you can find at any ACE Hardware) get it good and wet, good and wet, and lightly wipe down the shaft, working from the grip to the head, because this is how the shaft is finished, if you go the other way you will scratch the shaft…This should clean and rub out any marking. After you get it good and shinny/clean again go ahead and throw some car chrome polish on it, this will keep it shinny, cleaner for a longer time, and most important is it will protect the shafts from rust, just be careful and stay away from the grips.
For Graphite Shafts:
Soap and water. Make sure to us something soft, so you make sure not yo scratch the paint job.
Add Side Note: Acetone is a good idea, however, be careful with it, if it get on you grips you might as well replace them. Acetone on you grips will put a film on them, and anytime they get wet they will lose all there tack.

  1. WP Robot Wordpress Plugin Said,

Use acetone, available in any hardware store. Put a little on a cloth and wipe down your shafts. It removes any marks and all rust. With acetone there is no chance of scratches and scrapes. Don’t use wax. Wax is easily transferred from the shaft to the bag to the grips. And nobody cares how shiny your shafts are anyway. I didn’t get this advice from the local Golfsmith store, from my neighbor or my wife. This knowledge comes from 30 years of re-shafting and re-gripping golf clubs.
