i play aa baseball and i think i need some help with my swing. The coach says i have an uppercut swing and i pop out a lot and strike out. How do i make my swing more level? Any tips? And i am going to ask my coach next practice but i just wanted to see if anybody had some help they could give me. Thanks a lot.

First off, your coach is right… Uppercut swings generate so many pop ups and strikeouts… It might easy for you to destroy a meat ball pitch, but most of time (especially if the count is like 0-2), and you need to protect the outer halves of the plate, you need a swing that at leasy ensures contact. You might have a powerful swing, but you cover less plate, so you might become a Ryan Howard (which is awesome actually, but I think you know what I mean – good amount of power, but so many wasted ABs because of SOs).
A good way to fix it is to imagine swinging towards the ground. You probably think that you are swinging through the middle, but you are actually swinging high. So, a good compensation is to imagine that you need to swing a little bit low, and you will actually swing through the middle. Also, try videotaping yourself and watching the replay. If anything, compare your swing to role model swingers like Ken Griffey Jr. and Joe Mauer. DONT compare your swing to Frank Thomas or Mark McGwire – they aren’t textbook. Anyway, good luck and hopefully this helps you! You might not ding many HRs, but you might find yourself hitting in the .300 one day!
If you have an upper cut swing try holding the bat a bit higher, so in that case you will feel the erge to swing more level. That is what I did when I had an upper cut swing and I found it to help a lot. It will help you hit more line drives. But try it I think that it should work pretty good, and good luck in AA.
keep your back arm up when you swing. i would bet my house that you drop you back elbow when you swing and it causes you to dip and have an upper cut swing.
