you do not have to make your hips quicker but you do need good hand speed…it all depends on you batting stance also b/c if you have an open stance your hips are already open….so if your trying o gain some power this is what you should do…………..some exercise for your forearms to strengthen them, i have also pratice hitting a stationary tire……….i can go on for days answering this question but start here first and you will feel an improvement

Try swinging without moving your upper body then let your upper body catch up to the lower

I use to take a lot of practice swings with a lead donut on a bat. I’ve also heard of a few guys who swung rebar to strengthen their backs, hips, and wrists.

open your legs lean back with your back leg stand at a 45 degree angle and pick up your front leg when commensing the swing your front leg comes down automatically making your hips come into action and since your back leg comes forward or ( starts to straighten ) you can’t believe how much tork you make !! try it and see at a batting cage but be patient because your timing will be off but in the long run that front leg will give you better timing then you have now and the back leg gives you that 100 th of a secound to lay off a bad pitch that normally you’d commit too. keep at it and i promise you your timing will be excellent and you’ll even get to those inside pitches driving the ball instead of whacking at it your power will improve and so will your avg. practice and see buttttt be patient truse me there is not a single successful hitter that doesn’t hit that way…..
after all you can’t lie or fool or overcome physics which baseball is all about well that and geometry ( like pool ) good luck and WHEN IT DOES WORK LET US KNOW PLEASE ! now……
    PLAY BALL !!!!!!!!!

All professional sports trainers agree that the “core” of your body is the lower abdomen. The stronger that is, the better an athlete normally is.
    Focus on your core.

Find a ultra-traditional Japanese style martial artist, and he/she can teach you which muscles to use to snap your hips quickly.

ok, my father has been a coach for 25 years and i played all through college. what the guy said about the donut on the bat is wrong, all that will do is screw up your swing. we use donuts to loosen up our arms real quick, not for training. now, what the other guy said about core training is abosolutely correct. lots of abdominal training (various forms of sit-ups, medicine ball work, etc.) and if you want to strengthen your hips in particular do lunges (front to back, and laterally).
hit the weights, and hit the tee

  9. Incredible Videos Said,

throwing your hips is the most explosive part of your swing…but remember..no matter how fast and powerful your hips are, your hands have to be able to meet the ball in front of the plate. You can throw your hips as hard as you want, but if your hands are dragging, you still wont hit the ball hard. The key to a good swing and good power isnt how hard you swing or throw your hips, its good timing and having a fluid swing. Everything has to come together at once. But if yuo want to strengthen your torso, sit on yuor butt and raise your feet out in front of you and then cross them..you will be somewhat crouched..do not staighten yuor legs straight out…then take a 25 pound plate and rotate side to side and touch the plate to the ground on each side of your body. Do sets of 25 like this and it will not only strengthen your torso, but it will also loosen it up and make it more flexible.

There are lots of ways to make your hips stronger. I take a heavy bat and put it behind my backand hold it with my elbows. I then do soft toss. When The ball comes you rotate your hips sp your bat hits the ball. make sure you are turning your back foot when your swing. Also Make your hips turn before hands come through.

Do some excercises in that area. Also, try hitting off a tee, setting it up closer to your body like an inside pitch. This will also help your hands and wrists.

its all about training your mid to lower body, you want to be able to thrust your hips toward the ball and drive with your legs, but you dont want your hips to be too fast or youll pull off everything and yank everything foul.
