When I start too early, I will overstride to compensate on timing and it leads to slower hip touque. Plus hand mechanics fall apart. Then if I try to get lift on the ball my shoulder drops and everyone knows where that leads. If I level my swing it is usually a hard ground ball. But I want hard line drives, I will double or triple my long ball output if I can get this down, and will be a tougher out.

the key to slowpitch softball is beer.
In the 1st inning, take a beer with you to the plate, when the pitcher releases the ball, open the beer and chug it. When you’re done with the beer the ball will be almost there and its time to swing.
By the last inning of a double header, you just swing when you see the pitcher release the ball, but you’re so drunk that by the time you react, the ball is there.
The thing that helped me out in slow pitch was trying to hit the ball to right field with an open stance. Also, I went with the Alan Trammel batting style. Holding the bat parallel to the ground with my right elbow (i”m right handed, left elbow and trying to hit to left field if you’re left handed) basically dug into my ribs. It forces you to wait on the pitch and also gives you an amzingly level swing that leads to a lot of sharp line drives back up the middle. You’ll never get a lot of power ( I was never a power hitter in baseball or softball, just a lot of doubles and singles) but it’s a great approach for solid contact.
You should keep your hands back, feet down, and turn that back foot back like your squashing a bug, then watch it fly.
