I would even be thinking memberships unitl you learn the game and know you will play. The best way to start is to go to your local course and discuss with the local teaching pro. He can consult you on clubs. This will be by far the most economical way to learn the game and the quickest….Good Luck…and have a blast
Golf is an expensive hobby to start on a whim.Clubs can cost from a few hundred to a few thousand for a new or custom set. Then there are greens fees which must be paid for every round.Proper cleats can cost in the hundreds of dollars as well. And depending on the course your membership could also run into the thousands for a single year.Public courses are nice to play when just starting out and greens fees are reasonable usually in the 30-50 dollar range depending on where you live.
While you might be able to find a set of clubs at a garage sale or resale shop the odds of them fitting you or your style of play are very remote. The pros make it look easy but golf is a very difficult game to get really good at.If you have the money and time needed then give golf a try.
Well, it depends on your knowledge of the sport. I am 15 years old and i have been playing for 11 years and shoot in the low 40’s. So i have a good knowledge.
First of all, get a club fitting. Get starter clubs. Get cheap clubs to start and then get nicer clubs if you know your going to continue playing. Then get Lessons. Private and group lessons, its your call.
For memberships, don’t get one at like a 5 star TPC course, but don’t get one at like a cruddy course either. And also I have no foggy idea where you live so I don’t know what type of course are near you!
Hope I helped! :p
I knida agree with Snowy on this one. I’m 14, belong to a country club (elite) and I am a 5 handicap, (you know what that is right?) My clubs are perfectly fit by the Taylomade TP van and they cost over $2000. The rule of thumb at our club is that you are under a 10 handicap. (Shooting 82 or better for 18) If not, you can’t join. You have to walk before you can run, so that means playing your public course, driving range, etc. Good Luck!
You gotta walk before u can crawl..but u dont have to be a good golfer at a club to be a member…in actuallity private clubs, the golf part is a side bar..Go to ur local range or course and sign up for lessons from a pro. Its the best way to start..
