  1. student @ northumbria Said,

I suffer from this problem as well. A good tip is to take the shot slowly rather than going to blast the ball so you can concentrate more on the club and the shot. Sometimes it can be due to your feet positioning (put your right foot in front of the left slightly and this may stop it).
My overall suggestion would be to see a golf pro for a lesson and they will be able to see where you are going wrong straight away.

I’d suggest taking a couple of lessons from a local pro. I did a few years ago and it really helped. Now when I slice or hook the ball, I go back to what I learned from my lessons. My grip & alignment was okay, but my swing plane was not.
When I have trouble slicing the ball, it’s usually do to a problem with my swing plane being too steep or upright. This produces an outside-in swing path which puts sidespin on the ball and creates a slice. If I flatten my swing plane a bit, it helps me take an inside-out swing path and I can actually draw the ball a bit. If I hook the ball, then I know I’m swinging too flat and have overcompensated.

There are numerous things you can do to avert your slice. I would need to see your swing but take a look at the following list and see if they help you:
1 Turn your right hand over more to the left side of the grip, this encourages a draw as it turns over the club at impact.
2 Grip the club lighter to allow wrists to rotate through impact
3 Grip club more in the fingers
    4. Shorten stance for a fuller body turn

Here is a golf school that has some great golf tips. They have video, animation and other types of golf tips. You may find a video that will help you with your slice.http://www.sdgagolf.com/golf_tips.php
    Hope this helps

  5. koolbean Said,

I had a real rough slice, the ball would go 100 yards straight and 100 yards to the right at what seemed to be a 90 degree bank. I was trying to transition my swing from a baseball swing which I had used for 16 years to a golf swing. Got older and washed out of baseball so I started playing golf. I had both my hands going straight down the shaft and thats where my slice was the worst. I talked with my brother in law who had been playing for close to 20 years and handicaps 3 or 4 he said keep the same stance and swing just turn your left hand (top hand, im a righty) back towards your right shoulder. Its really uncomfortable but after a few buckets its natural. But that fixed my slice, something as quick and simple as checking your top hand and making sure its turned back.

Best thing to do is go to a pro for a lesson let him see your swing . He will tell you what to do honestly its worth the money.

  9. horseman Said,

a common swing fault-what you do is simple but requires a bit of practice, and it is this-… go to the driving range, find a bay away from other golfers and place a ball on the floor in your usual position for a long iron(4″ behind your left heel for a rt.hander),then place another ball back,on the outside, just enough for the club to miss when taken back on the swing path, and another ball on the inside in front and to the side of the ball to be struck. This sounds daft but the idea is to have a diagonall line of balls, the middle ball is the one you are going to hit.the effect is that if you swing from outside to in(slice) then you will hit the first ball and not the one you are aiming at,and you will most likely go on to hit all three if your swing is really out.keep on with this drill and your slice will disapear and a little draw will take its place.remember to swing slow to start with, also give yourself a fairly big gap between balls to start and then as you get confident close the gap to increase the accuracy of the swing, keep away from other golfers as if your swing is bad you will be hitting all over but you will soon sort yourself out.good luck.

  10. help Said,

Alright the first thing to do is set the ball more to the front heel in your stance to allow more time to let the club come around. The next thing to do is on the top of your swing make sure your right elbow (for Rights) i parallel to the ground to stop coming down to high. Then the next thing to do i make sure that your hips are not leading your hands through impact. If all of that does not work set a towel under your right armpit (for Rights). This makes sure that your club face comes in before contact.
    1. set ball more on leading heel.
    2. make sure hips are not leading hands and are TURNING instead of sliding.
    3. right elbow parallel to ground.
    4. Drill is to set the towel under elbow.
    Good Luck

i also suffer from this problem.position your feet so that the ball is directly in between. you should be about a yard and a half away from the ball. concentrate about the direction of the ball firstly the power will come with practice. at the start of the swing keep your head over the ball eyes on the ball. in the middle of the swing bend your left knee slightly (if you are right handed) and slightly straighten your right leg.coming down the ball is the hardest part keep your eye on the ball. on the down swing slow your club speed just until you hit the ball and then rip through it. Remember it is technique and your club that make it go far, not your body

  12. garpit c Said,

    HAH, don’t ask me.
Try playing the ball a little more in the middle of your stance and make sure your feet are lined up. Make sure you start with a square club face and that you pull through the ball. If you are in a ‘power’ position, try a position that feels less powerful.

  13. Ben 101 Said,

You might be coming down on the ball too steep. Try a more rounded swing. Watch any pro who hits a draw and see what you are doing different
