1>Most importantly is keep your swing slow and controlled, like Ernie Els. Don't try and smack it! hit at about 80%
2>Buy a golf magazine, they have loads of tips from the professionals
3>practise as often as possible. This can sometimes feel like a bit of a chore in the winter when you're getting up and its dark and freezing but if stop playing throughout the winter months, you're back to square 1 come the spring.
4>Go the driving range and work on your problems. Everyone has them, even the pros. Swing the club, analyse what you're doing wrong or get someone else to and work at it.
Its not all fun and games ya know!!! good luck :)

Get Ben Hogan's book "Five Lessons: The Modern Fundamentals of Golf." Great book, and it builds the swing up from the start, which is the grip, the most important, but most overlooked aspect of the swing.

Well my Friend if your really inters-ted in this game of golf again start from scratch. Make sure your grip is correct I cant explain in Great detail about the grip because its very complicated but for starter make sure both of your hands are equal meaning the same on the club in other words both hands are aligned together
in unison. The other basics are very explainable stay in balance
to do this set up to the ball slightly bend your nees and make a swing while staying in balance. bending your knees allows you to coil your backswing and turn your hips without swaying off the ball. stay aligned make sure your feet knees shoulders are aimed to your target they can very a bit just like your grip but make sure the are all pretty even slightly open or closed. take small swings with longer clubs on the driving range take a 5 iron and make smooth swings to groove swing and get a feel
of what your swing is about golf takes years to master start with the basics hit balls on the range stay in ba;lance groove your swing. I'm not a beginner and i still do this because this is what you have to do to start the game hit solid shots and work your way up to full shots. The bottom line if your out of balance you hit bad shots.

Forget about distance and concentrate your driving range practice to keeping the ball in play. The fastest way to bring down your scores is to spend most of your available practice time trying to improve your putting and chipping.

Go out and enjoy yourself. it is a game where you are getting good exercise and fresh air. Have some craic with your playing partners and dont take the game seriously. If you have a good score at the end that is a bonus. cheaters are only cheating themselves into thinking they are better than they really are . you do not cheat yourself and it is the easiest way to lose friends.
Remember if you are an 18 handicapper you are allowed 18 bad shots during a round. So don't lose the head when you hit one bad shot.as that will throw your game completely off.
As I said at the start GO OUT AND ENJOY YOURSELF/////////
