wats wrong with my golf swing?

Posted by admin

When i go to the driving range I always hit the ground first before i hit the ball and sometimes I hit the tee before i hit the ball. When i do hit it the ball just goest like 10 yards and than just chops on the grass the rest of the way. And other times I hitthe ball sky high or hit the roof which is really embarrasing when everyone is lookin at u. So if there are any tips on wat to do. My opinion is that I bend my knees too much and I try to reach for the ball but Im NO golfer so any help would be nice..

No problem. First of all you are teeing the ball too high. Tee it down a notch so that when you do connect with it you actually hit the ball instead of the tee first. Secondly, it sounds like you are hitting what we like to call worm burners. To try to explain this clearly, if you were to draw a line from the center of your chest to the ground than that is where your club will most likely hit. So if you are hitting behind the ball, you are either leaning back when you swing at it, or your are playing the ball too far forward in your stance. So to fix this, make sure that your posture is straight up and down throughout your swing, and make sure that the ball is positioned in the center of your stance.

    Good Luck

get a golf pro… any other advice would just confuse you… im sure there are others out there that would agree with me…

Well I'm not Tiger Woods but you could just keep your head down, relax, concentrate. Just practice a lot and some people just aren't good at golf. But if u practice you'll be OK. PRACTICE MAKES PERFECT

Several have said the magic words….See a teaching pro. for us to try to dissect something we can not see ( your golf swing) is impossible at best. To simplify…you are not making good contact with the ball……I have no clue why. Thus I can give no advice but to seek a good teaching pro.

  5. t Said,

try standing farther from the ball at adress, it sounds like your set up is off

Okay…yes you should go see a golf pro, but in the mean time try this. It is simple and any pro will agree with this drill. A. You should always hit the ground after the ball on Hybrid – LW. Driver is a little different, you actually want to catch it on the up slope, but that has more to do with where the ball is at address. With a 7 iron, place the ball slightly ahead of the center of your stance. Move back and (I have said this before to other golfers) find your impact position – the exact place where your body is when you would hit the ball. Keep that position – weight on the front foot back heel slightly raised, hips starting to turn. Hit about 20 ball like this, get used to the feeling, the ball should pop up in the air but won't go far. Start taking normal short swing, club head back to about you hip and feel the impact position. Good luck!

if you are not standing to close to the ball, maintain your knee flexx, spine angle throughout the swing and swing from inside to out you CANNOT hit it fat like that.

The most likely reason you are hitting it so fat is that you are coming over the top. YOu are probably casting a little as well.

  8. Jason G Said,

It could be a number of things. More than likely your spine angle is not the same from your take away to your downswing which will cause you to hit the ball "fat." It could be what is called the reverse pivot where you dip your left shoulder forward which causes you to hit the behind the ball. What you want to do is to grip the club correctly, set up with about 60% of your weight on your right side, maintain flex in your knees throughout your swing, and make sure your clubface is square at set up and throughout your swing. Take a lesson if you have trouble with this.

Here is a golf school that has some great golf tips. They have video, animation and other types of golf tips. You may find something there that can help you correct your swing.
