Ping “G” series are pretty good for beginners, but as with ANY brand name, you are going to pay thru the nose.

Click on the “Irons” link, and check out any set. They have a chart that tells you how easy they are to hit, and for what handicap the clubs are recommended. I ordered my clubs from these folks and had a great experience.
